MGI 2024: Creating and Sustaining Equitable Communities
Dates: June 24-June 28, 2024
The focus of this summer's institute is Creating and Sustaining Equitable Communities and will include rich opportunities to draw connections between this theme and your teaching goals using Gholdy Muhammad's Unearthing Joy.
The 30th Annual Institute prepares educators, middle school teams, and schools to implement responsive learning environments that address students’ diverse needs, interests, and identities. In the interest of safety and flexibility, this summer we are providing participants with the option to take the Institute completely onlineor to attend in-person at Saint Michael's College, Colchester, VT.
As always, participants may attend in teams or individually, and will have access to interactive workshops, thought-provoking presentations, and facilitated planning time. Here is the proposed schedule for the week.
Here are the five course offerings:
1. Middle Grades Curriculum 2. Middle Grades Instruction and Assessment 3. Young Adolescent Growth and Development 4. Middle Grades Organization 5. Creating and Sustaining Equitable Communities
You can enroll at the Middle Grades Institute for 40 hours of re-licensure credit ($1600) or for 3 graduate credits ($2000).
MGI is committed to a humane work and learning environment. The balance between in-person and remote learning may be adjusted during the week in response to conditions and need.
