Visiting Scholars Program
Join us this summer for the Middle Grades Institute Visiting Scholars Program
The Middle Grades Collaborative is pleased to invite applicants for its Middle Grades Institute Visiting Scholar program. The program aims to improve education for all young adolescents by amplifying dialogue between Vermont educators, teacher educators, and researchers, and their counterparts outside of the state.
Visiting scholars join the dynamic and dedicated faculty of the weeklong Middle Grades Institute, held in Vermont from June 22-26, 2020. They may choose to consult, offer workshops or a public talk, collaborate on research, or serve as a participant-observer of the week’s activities. The fellowship covers the cost of economy class, roundtrip airfare between one’s home airport and Burlington, Vermont, and provides on-campus housing and meals for the week.
Visiting Professor Eligibility and Criteria
Eligible applicants in the Visiting Professor category hold a tenure-track or tenured position at any rank, with a primary appointment in teacher education at an accredited college or university. They have experience teaching preservice and/or inservice middle grades educators, with a substantive line of inquiry in the field of middle grades education. Applicants who can contribute to the diversity of the Middle Grades Institute through their teaching, research, or related contributions are especially encouraged to apply.
Visiting Doctoral Fellow Eligibility
Eligible applicants in the Visiting Doctoral Fellow category are actively enrolled in a Ph.D. or Ed.D. program at an accredited college or university. Their research interests focus on middle schooling and/or early adolescence and they intend to pursue dissertation research in the field of middle grades education. Applicants at any stage of doctoral study may apply, and those who can contribute to the diversity of the Middle Grades Institute through their teaching, research, or related contributions are especially encouraged.
